John "Tug" Miller

Experience

Dr. John “Tug” Miller has been a General Surgeon with Utah Surgical Associates since 1997; specializing in Bariatric procedures and after-care. Prior to his career with Utah Surgical, Dr. Miller served as a Green Baret in the Special Forces of the U.S. Army, as well as the Utah Army National Guard. Dr. Miller served as the Medical Director of Coral Desert Surgical Center for 15 years.

Dr. Miller performs over 500 surgeries annually and is called upon regularly by referring and emergency care physicians to utilize his expertise. Dr. Miller prioritizes both full recovery and lifestyle management for his patients.

Dr. Miller attended the University of Utah Medical School and graduated in 1992. Following medical school, he completed his residency at UCSF/Fresno in Fresno and San Franscisco, California. He became Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1999 and has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1999. Dr. Miller has completed multiple medical missions to Mongolia, Germany, Central and South America. He also enjoys volunteering at his church, hiking, and travelling in his free time.
