Cholecystectomy (gallbladder)

Cholecystectomy is the process of removing the gallbladder. This type of surgery treats cholelithiasis and cholecystitis. Symptoms of the first are severe right upper abdominal pain that can extend up to the right shoulder, while symptoms of the latter include abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. The two fundamental types of procedures surgeons perform are an open cholecystectomy and the laparoscopic procedure.

Liver biopsy/resection

A liver biopsy is a medical procedure done to take a small piece of tissue from the liver for diagnostic testing. Biopsies are performed to diagnose any tumors or diseases, evaluate damage done to the liver from chronic disease, identify abnormalities with liver tissues and monitor the progress of previous treatments.

A liver resection is where part of the liver is removed, also known as a hepatectomy.

Pancreatic (including Whipple procedure)

The human pancreas is a glandular organ near the stomach that secretes pancreatic juice into the small intestine to help absorb nutrients and to aid in digestion. It also produces several significant hormones like glucagon and insulin.

When there are cancerous tumors, malignant tumors and/or pancreatitis, a Whipple procedure is executed for the treatment of these issues.
